Changes to subnet weights are disabled in the Bittensor network.
Subnetwork Weights
tao5 Validator has now implemented sTAO, allowing its stakers to directly choose which subnets to incentivize with TAO emissions. By enabling stakers to influence subnet incentives, tao5 enhances the decentralized nature of the network and provides more control to its participants.
Subnetwork weights are determined by normalizing stake-weighted staker votes to 100%. tao5 Validator updates and pushes these weights on-chain periodically, with a minimum frequency of once per week. The calculation is verifiable by reviewing all current votes and their cryptographic signatures, available here.
To avoid subnets weight concentration and encourage diversification of subnet weights, if subnetwork weight exceeds 20% after normalization, excess above 20% is assigned to subnet 0.
